Arana started the game off slow with Pine Central scoring 2 tries to go to a 10 nil lead. Arana came back to even the score with 2 tries. Once again our defense let us down. Pine Central scored just before half time. The second half was a tough tussle with both teams scoring twice. The score was 22 all with 10 minutes to go. Pine Central got the upper hand and scored 2 more tries and won the game. Top tackles Matt M. 16, Jason14. Top hitups Phil 11, Doug 7
Round 13: Wynnum 24 def ARANA 22 at Dawson Pde (HT Arana 16-12)
Scorers: S. Rowland 4 tries; D. Harden 2, S. Rowland goals
Three minutes into the game Arana scored a converted try. But 5 minutes later Wynnum scored a converted try. Arana scored 2 more tries beforeletting Wynnum back in just before half time. In the second half Arana keptup the pressure and Shane scored his fourth try and converted it to take Arana to a 10 point lead. Arana went to sleep and Wynnum found the gaps in our defense and scored 2 quick tries in the last 7 minutes of the game. Peter did extremely well under the high ball securing them all. Shane had an outstanding running game scoring all 4 tries. Tim once again lead the defense with top tackles of 30, closest to him was Jason on 17. Tim and Jason worked well together in the tackles.
Round 12: Albany Creek 28 def ARANA 26 at Southpine (HT Albany Ck 22-16)

Albany Creek went to a 10 nil lead but Arana fought back with a try in the corner from Callan, converted by Doug after hitting the post. Shane ran thelength of the field to score an intercept try, which was once again converted by Doug for Arana to take the lead. Just before half time Albany Creek scored a converted to regain the lead. The second half saw both teams taking turns in scoring with Arana always playing catch up. Peter scored a length of the field try from an intercept. Tim Dunn's return to the team was very evident with a man of the match performance topping the tackle count at 18; Pat, Neil 13. Round 11: Aspley 28 def ARANA 18 at Dawson Pde (HT Aspley 16-6)
Scorers: P.Walsh 2, C.Higgs tries; D.Harden 3 goals
The game started off well for Arana with Phil scoring (10 metres from side line) 2 mins into the game and Doug converting. Aspley came back 5 mins later to even the score and the score 2 more tries before half time. Arana came back 12 mins into the second half with Callan scoring and Doug converted. 3 mins later Phil scored his second try in the corner and again Doug converted to take the lead 18 - 16. Aspley came back with a try 5 mins later to take back the lead. Both teams put on the pressure but Aspley were able to score again and take the game. Ben Webb from the 15's had an outstanding game getting involved whenever he was on the field. Phil once again had a great game. Overall it was a great te4am effort despite the lose. Kev was injured 40 secs before fulltime resulting in 2 cracked ribs. Top Tackles: Phil 16, Ben W. 14. Hit ups: Callan, Doug 8, Phil 7.
Round 10: ARANA 17 def Easts 16 at Dawson Pde (HT 6-6)
Scorers: R.Dutton (U15), P.Farrell, B.Webb (U15) tries; J.McKee, S.Rowland goals; N.Denmar field goal.
Arana started the game with all 15 players plus 2 from the 15's. In the first 5 mins Doug injured his ankle and took no further part in the game. Russell scored our first try and Jason converted. Arana lost Phil to injury for the rest of game 10 mins before half time. With too many mistakes Arana still managed to go to half time 6 all. Arana scored first in the second half but then allowed East to run all over them an put in 2 quick tries to take the lead. Arana fought back and scored a converted try to take the score to 16 all. With only 5 mins to go defence was a high priority for both teams. with about 20 secs on the clock Neil got a successful opportunity to kick a field goal.

Round 9: Redcliffe 20 v Arana 0 at Dolphin Oval - forfeit
Round 8: Brothers 10 def ARANA 4 at Brandon Park (HT 4-4)

In dismal conditions at Brandon Park Arana ran on to the field determined to show that last weeks effort against Holy Spirit was not just a flash in the pan. The team showed commitment in attack and defence that rocked the Brothers side (which had defeated them by 46 points in the first round) and after conceding a relatively soft try struck back after some sustained attack to see Matt Mosca cross to level the scores.
Both sides came out fired up in the second half with some punishing defence and after having numerous raids on the try line frustrated by unforced errors Arana conceded Brothers field position which resulted in a try under the posts. Again Arana rallied and unfortunately missed several opportunities to cross due to loose handling but eventually with about 12 minutes to go put a back line move together which saw Shane Rowlands cross out wide only to have the try disallowed on the Brothers linesman’s call. Arana continued to attack the line right to the end but Brothers were able to hold us out to take a very hard fought win.
This was another strong effort from a team which is now adapting well to the promotion to B Grade. James (Bacon) Staib received the encouragement award for topping the hit ups along with Phillip Walsh (10) and Jason McKee and Doug Harden topped the tackle count with 21 each closely followed by Matt Mosca and Phillip Walsh on 19. Thanks again to the Under 15 players Aaron Watkin, Russell Dutton and Ben Webb who all played very strong games. Good effort team!
Round 7: ARANA 30 def Pine Central 22 at Dawson Pde (HT Arana 14-8)
Scorers: D.Harden 2, S.Rowland 2, P.Farrell tries; D.Harden 5 goals
The score seesawed in the first half with Holy Spirit scoring first. Doug scored all the points in the first half with 2 converted tries and 1 penalty goal just before half time. Shane scored first in the second half, but then Arana had a lapse of concentration and Holy Spirit scored 3 tries to go to a 22-18 lead. Arana put the pressure back on and Pat scored and Doug converted to take back the lead. With 5 mins to go Shane scored his second try on the corner and Doug converted giving Arana an 8 point lead. Holy Spirit didn't give up but to their credit Arana hung in and defended their score. Doug was named man of the match with Phillip close behind. Overall it was a great team effort from all players. Finally they played like the team that won the grand final last year. Keep it up boys. Thanks to Russell Dutton & Ben Webb from the 15's for their help. Top tackles:

Arana were competitive in the first half but let in a couple of soft tries. The second half saw lack of discipline from Arana and some poor decisions made. Round 5: Albany Ck 54 def ARANA 0 at Scott Park (HT Albany Ck 20-0)

For the first time Arana had all 16 players at the game. Arana put some effort into the first half, but in the second half let Albany Creek run all over them. Ben P. ( a new player this year) had an impressive game. Top tackles: Jason 13, Doug 12; Top Hit Ups: Kevin 7, Shane, Matt F, Phillip & Ben P. 6.
Round 4: ARANA 30 def Aspley 28 at Kirby Road (HT Arana 20-14)

Aspley scored first 90 seconds into the game, but Arana hit back quickly to tie the score. Arana was tackling and taking the ball up well. The back line was utilised well in attack and once Arana hit the front they stayed there. Doug kicked 2 of his goals from the sideline. Matt F back from illness had a great attacking game. Matt M. was named man of the match. Top tacklers Matt M. 13, Jason 12; Top hitups Matt F., Doug 10. Overall it was a great team effort.
Round 3: Easts 56 def ARANA 0 at Scott Park (HT Easts 38-0)

With only 13 players Arana were always going to struggle playing in the middle of the day. Arana played with only 12 players for most of the second half. Team morale was very low resulting in a huge score line.
Round 2: Redcliffe 44 def ARANA 14 at Dawson Pde (HT Redcliffe 34-0)

Redcliffe ran away with the first half finding plenty of gaps in our defence. Our full back Shane had a great cover defensive game. Arana came out a different team in the second half with hard tackles and hit ups. The second half proved Arana could be competitive at this level scoring 3 tries to 1.
The work load was evenly spread with the average tackles 8 and hitups 6.

Arana has started the season off poorly. Brothers went to a quick 12 nil start. Jason (a new player to our team) scored our first try 10 mins before half time which was converted by Doug. Unfortuately Brothers hit back for another coverted try before half time. Brothers came out in the second half and piled on the points. Ben C. scored our second try.
