SOUTHS (8th) v ARANA (6th): Sunday May 9 2.30pm at Brandon Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Souths: Steady at 33/1 ($34.00); Arana: 5/1 ($6.00) out from 4/1 ($5.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 1: Arana 44 def Souths 10
Head to Head 2001/4: Arana 9 Souths 1
Last 3 Games: Souths: Norths L 12-26; Redcliffe L 4-44; Centenary L 14-34
Arana: Redcliffe L 8-22; Easts L 14-21; Springwood L 18-20
Both these teams are currently in their longest losing streaks ever and will be desperate to break them this weekend. Arana in particular MUST win this one to keep in touch with the top five, which they have slipped out of following last week's loss. Souths have always put up a good showing against the Panthers at home and realise this is a great chance to improve their winning record against them.

NORTHS (1st) v SPRINGWOOD (3rd): Sunday May 9 10.45am at Brandon Pk
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Norths: Steady at 3/1 ($4.00); Springwood: Steady at 3/1 ($4.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 1: Norths 40 def Springwood 16
Head to Head 2001/4: Redlands/Springwood 2 Norths 1
Last 3 Games: Norths: Souths W 26-12; Centenary W 18-16; Logan Bros L 23-26
Springwood: Centenary W 20-18; Logan Bros W 24-22; Arana W 20-18
This should be a great match with Springwood looking to avenge their first round thrashing at the hands of the Devils. Springwood have managed to win their last three games by 2 points and will be happy if that is the winning margin on Sunday, as long as they have their noses in front. Norths will want to prove the first round result was no fluke.

LOGAN BROS (4th) v REDCLIFFE (2nd): Sunday May 9 12.00noon at Brandon Pk
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Logan Bros: Steady at 3/1 ($4.00); Redcliffe: 7/2 ($4.50) in from 4/1 ($5.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 1: Redcliffe 24 def Logan Bros 20
Head to Head 2001/4: Redcliffe 6 Logan Bros 4
Last 3 Games: Logan Bros: Easts W 40-10; Springwood L 22-24; Norths W 26-23
Redcliffe: Arana W 22-8; Souths W 44-4; Easts W 36-4
Vies with the Norths/Springwood match for "Match of the Day" status, the Redcliffe/Logan Bros game promises to be another thriller. Redcliffe ran down Logan Bros in the first round match, and the Brethren seem to be making a bit of a habit of only playing one good half a match. The Dolphins have been molded into a good side, and will not want to let their good start to the season slip.

CENTENARY (5th) v EASTS (7th): Sunday May 9 1.15pm at Brandon Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Centenary: Steady at 4/1 ($5.00); Easts: Steady at 20/1 ($21.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 1: Centenary 10 def Easts 4
Head to Head 2001/4: Centenary 5 Easts 1
Last 3 Games: Centenary: Springwood L 18-20; Norths L 16-18; Souths W 34-14
Easts: Logan Bros L 10-40; Arana W 21-14; Redcliffe L 4-36
Centenary have gone down narrowly to Springwood and Norths in the last 2 weeks, and will be primed to take the two competition points here. Easts have shown they are capable of pushing any team on their day, and led Centenary at half-time in the first round clash. Hard to see the Panthers letting this one slip though.
