2004 BJRL U16A Round 16 Preview
Note for Previous Years' performances I have used Redlands for Springwood.

Starting to get to the business end of the season - a couple of game this weekend will be critical to the makeup of the final four.
LOGAN BROS (5th) v ARANA (4th): Sunday July 25 10.45am at Civic Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: L.B.: 4/1 $5.00) out from 3/1 ($4.00) Arana: 8/1 ($9.00) out from 7/1 ($8.00)
2004 Games Round 2: Arana 30 def Logan Bros 10; Round 9: Arana 24 def Logan Bros 22
Head to Head 2001/4: Arana 7 Logan Bros 4 Drawn 2
Last 3 Games:  Logan Bros: Redcliffe L 18-34; Springwood W 24-10; Centenary W 42-6
                       Arana: Redcliffe L 16-23; Souths W 52-0; Springwood L 14-44
Arana are a point ahead of Logan Bros on the table but this is somewhat misleading as Logan Bros have 2 games in hane over the Panthers. Fourth spot on the table is shaping up as a fight between these two sides and Centenary so a win here is critical for both sides. Arana got up in the two earlier games this season, the first when they turned on a spectacular first half to lead 24-0 at the break, and the second a gutsy effort with a depleted team at home. Arana had a tough game on Wednesday night and Logan Bros will be fresh which may be enough to get them home.

CENTENARY (6th) v REDCLIFFE (1st): Friday July 23 8.15pm at Cent H'way Res.
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Centenary: 10/1 ($11.00) out from 15/2 ($8.50); Redcliffe: 7/2 ($4.50)  in from 4/1 ($5.00)
2004 Games: Round 2: Centenary 23 def Redcliffe 22; Round 9: Redcliffe 24 def Centenary 18
Head to Head 2001/4: Centenary 3 Redcliffe 3
Last 3 Games: Centenary: Easts W 22-14; Springwood L 10-26; Norths W 20-16
                       Redcliffe: Arana W 23-16; Logan Bros W 34-18; Easts W 28-12
A great week for Redcliffe with wins over Logan Bros and Arana leading into this match, whilst it took two late tries for Centenary to get over the top of Easts. Centenary showed however they can be a dangerous side, leading Springwood into the second half and beating Norths in their last 3 outings, so Redcliffe will not want to take them easy. The two games between these sides earlier in the year were rippers and this should be no different.

NORTHS (2nd) v EASTS (7th): Friday July 23 8.30pm at Bishop Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Norths: 9/4 ($3.25) in from 5/2 ($3.50); Easts: 50/1 ($51.00) out from 20/1 ($21.00)
2004 Games: Round 2: Norths 44 def Easts 24; Round 9: Norths 28 def Easts 22
Head to Head 2001/4: Norths 3 Easts 2
Last 3 Games:  Norths: Springwood W 24-16; Souths W 36-16; Centenary L 16-20
                       Easts: Centenary L 14-22; Redcliffe L 12-28; Arana L 12-28
Norths are locked in a battle for the minor premiership with Redcliffe and Springwood, and following their win over Springwood last Sunday it is hard to see them dropping this one. Easts put in another good performance against Centenary but have rarely displayed such good form away from Scott Park. The Devils should be too good in this one.

SOUTHS (8th) v SPRINGWOOD (3rd): Sunday July 25 1.30pm at Brandon Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Souths: Out of contention; Springwood: 3/1 ($4.00) out from 5/2 ($3.50)
2004 Games: Round 2: Springwood 32 def Souths 28; Round 9: Springwood 58 def Souths 18
Head to Head 2001/4: Redlands/Springwood 9 Souths 1
Last 3 Games:  Souths: Arana L 0-52; Norths L 16-36; Redcliffe L 20-30
                       Springwood: Norths L 16-24; Centenary W 26-10; Logan Bros L 10-24
Springwood suffered a double blow last Sunday, losing both the match to Norths, and inspirational five-eight Matt Smith for an extended period with a broken wrist. The need to score a big win here however to maintain their challenge for the minor premiership. Souths were disappointing last week, but were understrength and are a much better team at home as indicated in Round 2 where they nearly knocked over Springwood. Should be an interesting game, and Springwood will certainly not have it all their own way.
