Round 14 is another split round played over a number of different days.
The first two games were played the first Wednesday night after the State Carnival with Norths hosting Souths and Springwood hosting Centenary.
At Bishop Park Norths flew out of the blocks against the visiting Souths side and had the match parcelled up at halftime with a 26-0 lead. To the Magpies' credit however they didn't throw in the towel and in fact won the second half to keep the final score to a respectable 36-16. Whilst Souths are out of the Premiership race they once again showed they should not be taken lightly.
I ventured down to Tallowood Park where a sluggish start by the homeside Springwood saw Centenary score two early tries to dash away to a 10-0 lead midway through the first half, with both tries scored by winger turned centre Wade. Both sides were making plenty of mistakes, but just before the break Springwood scored a crucial try which saw them go to oranges trailling by only four. Centenary looked certain to extend their lead early in the second half, but a couple of critical errors gifted the home side the ball and Springwood accepted the ball with glee, eventually getting on a roll with the mountain of possession and eventually running out 26-10 winners, the game being wrapped up with a hat-trick of tries to Daniel Isaac, which blew out the margin to won which belied the closeness of the contest.

A cool breezy evening greeted Redcliffe and Arana at Dolphin Oval for their game on July 21. Redcliffe won the toss and ran with the breeze, but it was Arana that started the best and two tries in the opening 12 minutes gave them an early 10-0 lead. For the rest of the half they dominated penalties (8-1) and possession and also saw a Dolphin player despatched to the sin bin, but almost unbelievably the half-time score was 10-10, after the Panthers not only squandered a number of scoring opportunities themselves, but presented the Dolphins with 2 runaway tries from a poor kick and a handling error. The misery continued in the second half for the visitors with Redcliffe adding another try whilst a man short to lead 14-10. Arana's attempt at playing catch-up football led to more mistakes and when the Dolphins added a converted try in the 48th minute the match appeared over. A further penalty goal extended their lead to 12, but a long distance try from a scrum gave Arana the hope of a draw with two minutes remaining. However, a Redcliffe field goal in the last seconds wrapped up the match 23-16, and dealt a severe blow to Arana's finals hopes.
