2004 BJRL U16A Round 11 Preview
Note for "Head-to-Head" performances I have used Redlands for Springwood in 2001 to 2003.

All  the games this weekend should be closely fought with 2 games involving the top 4, and 5 v 6 and 7 v 8 in the other two.
ARANA (4th) v NORTHS (1st): Sunday  May 30 12.00noon at Dawson Pde
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Arana: Steady at 5/1 ($6.00); Norths: 3/1 ($4.00) out from 11/4 ($3.75)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 4: Norths 22 def Arana 8
Head to Head 2001/4: Arana 2 Norths 1
Last 3 Games:  Arana: Centenary W 26-10; Logan Bros W 24-22; Souths W 22-18
               Norths: Redcliffe L 18-28; Easts W 28-22; Springwood W 23-22
When these two teams last met they were both undefeated. Norths came out victorious in that one and are now competition leaders despite losing to Redcliffe last weekend. Arana's loss to Norths was the first of four in a row, but they have regained form recently, winning their last three. Arana are defending a proud home ground record but Norths will be keen not to lose two in a row for the first time this year.

REDCLIFFE (3rd) v SPRINGWOOD (2nd): Friday May 28 8.15pm at Dolphin Oval
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Redcliffe: Steady at  4/1 ($5.00); Springwood: Steady at 3/1 ($4.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 4: Redcliffe 16 def Springwood 12
Head to Head 2001/4: Redlands/Springwood 9 Redcliffe 2 Drawn 1
Last 3 Games: Redcliffe: Norths W 28-18; Centenary W 24-18; Logan Bros L 0-36
                       Springwood: Easts W 42-0; Souths W 58-18; Norths L 22-23
In the last 3 rounds Redcliffe have reversed the results of earlier in the year, beating Norths and Centenary after losing to them earlier in 2004 and losing to Logan Bros despite beating them in the first round. They will not want this trend to continue as they defeated Springwood in a thriller in the first round and are now locked with them in second place, ywo points behind Norths. Being a Friday night game, some rugby players may be unavailable and this could impact both sides, and may be critical to the outcome. Home ground advantage could certainly count in Redcliffe's favour.

SOUTHS (8th) v EASTS (7th): Sunday May 30 12.15pm at Brandon Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Souths: Steady at 33/1 ($34.00); Easts: 20/1 ($21.00) out from 16/1 ($17.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 4: Easts 32 def Souths 6
Head to Head 2001/4: Souths 5 Easts 1
Last 3 Games: Souths: Logan Bros L 20-38; Springwood L 18-58; Arana L 18-22
                       Easts: Springwood L 0-42; Norths L 22-28; Centenary D 16-16
Souths will be looking at this game to break their duck for the season against an Easts team that have played well at times, but been very disappointing at times as well. Souths held Logan Bros till the closing stages away last week, whilst Easts failed to cross Springwood's line. Having beaten Arana and drawn with Centenary in recent weeks Easts should win, but a Magpie surprise is certainly on the cards.

LOGAN BROS (5th) v CENTENARY (6th): Sunday May 30 12.30pm at Civic Park
PREMIERSHIP ODDS: Logan Bros: Steady at 3/1 ($4.00); Centenary: 11/2 ($6.50) out from 5/1 ($6.00)
Last Encounter: 2004 Round 4: Centenary 20 drew Logan Bros 20
Head to Head 2001/4: Logan Bros 4 Centenary 2 Drawn 1
Last 3 Games:  Logan Bros: Souths W 38-20; Arana L 22-24; Redcliffe W 36-0
  Centenary: Arana L 10-26; Redcliffe L 18-24; Easts D 16-16
The last game of the weekend is looking to take on "must win" status for Centenary who have now slipped 3 points behind Logan Bros and 4 points out of the Top 4.  Both teams put in less than ompressive displays last weekend, Logan Bros struggling to put away last placed Souths and Centenary falling to a beelow strength Arana, although this was substantailly due to the sin-binning of three Centenary players in the second half.  Logan Bros will see a return to the top 4 available with a win.
