The 2001 13A Grand Finalists clash in the opening game of the round, in what should be an interesting encounter. The Parakeets are flying high with three big wins to open their seaon, whereas the Dolphins are struggling, having lost to Logan Bros and Souths before just managing to put away the Tigers last week. The last encounter between these two teams was a cracker with Redlands just managing to snatch a draw with a converted try at the death. Redcliffe will be looking for a performance like they produced that day if they are any chance to hold the rampaging competition leaders.

Centenary find themselves in unfamiliar territory in 7th place on the ladder having opened the season with injuries plaguing their key players. They did have the wood over the Tigers last year winning all three encounters easily and their gutsy performance last week against Logan Bros shows that Easts will need all their players to lift to get a win. Extra spice has been added to this clash by the defection of Easts twin front-rowers to the Panthers during the off-season. Should be an absorbing clash.

A tough assignment for the Hornets this week against the undefeated Logan Brothers side. Back in 2001 Logan won all three encounters although the Holy Spirit side went close to an upset win on one occasion. They won their last game at home in a thriller and will be looking for a better effort than they put in against Arana last week.

Souths play Norths is the only Sunday game this week and this could very well be a close one. Norths have suffered two narrow losses in their away games this year, both by 2 points, and will be looking for a reversal of this fortune. An understrength Magpie outfit went down against Redlands last week following three impressive wins to open the season. Souths should win this at home, but an upset would not surprise.
