2003 BJRL U15A Round 3 Preview
EASTS (7th) v LOGAN BROS (3rd): Friday March 28 7.15pm at Scott Pk
Last Encounter: 2002 Round 21: Logan Bros 30 def Easts 8
Head to Head 2001/2: Logan Bros 3 Easts 0
Last 2 Games:  Easts: Arana L 0-54; Norths W 26-24
                       Logan Bros: Redcliffe W 32-4; Arana W 30-26
A tough one for the Tigers up against a Logan Brothers team that has started the season in great form. Easts have yet to notch up a win against the Logan boys, but came close last year gettin within 4 points in the 2nd round encounter. Hard to see the Tigers stopping the Brethren even at home.

CENTENARY (6th) v ARANA (4th): Friday March 28 8.15pm at Ipswich Rd
Last Encounter: 2002 Preliminary Final: Arana 32 def Centenary 16
Head to Head 2001/2: Arana 3 Centenary 1
Last 2 Games: Centenary: Norths W 46-14; Redlands L 12-40
                       Arana: Easts W 54-0; Logan Bros L 26-30
Important match for both sides who have started the season with a loss then a win. Centenary have been inconsistent playing a good and a poor half in both their games to date and will need a 60 minute effort to contain the Arana side.  Arana started slowly against Easts and will need to limit their mistakes against the Centenary team that can turn opportunity into points quickly, backed up by the radar accurate goalkicking of Tim Mc. The four previous matches between these two sides have been entertaining affairs, including last year's Preliminary Final where Arana came from behind to end Centenary's season.

REDCLIFFE (5th) v SOUTHS (1st): Friday March 28 8.15pm at Dolphin Oval
Last Encounter: 2002 Round 21: Souths 26 def Redcliffe 4
Head to Head 2001/2: Souths 2 Redcliffe 1 Drawn 3
Last 2 Games: Redcliffe: Logan Bros L 4-32; Mustangs W 42-4
                       Souths: Mustangs W 72-0; Holy Spirit W 22-8
The last time these two teams met was for a spot in last year's semi-finals when Souths proved too good for an injury-ravaged Dolphin side 26-4.  Interestingly 3 of their 6 clashes in the last 2 years have resulted in draws, whereas the other 3 were easy victories (2 to Souths, 1 to Redcliffe). This is Redcliffe's last chance to settle on an "A" team before the team are locked in so should have pretty close to their best side on the paddock, against a Magpie team whose defence seems a lot stronger than last year. Should be an interesting battle.

HOLY SPIRIT (9th) v NORTHS (8th): Friday March 28 8.30pm at Francis Rd
Last Encounter: None
Head to Head 2001/2: None
Last 2 Games: Holy Spirit: Redlands L 10-56; Souths L 8-22
                       Norths: Centenary L 14-46; Easts L 24-26
The battle of the two "new" Northside A teams should be an interesting one, with both keen to open their account after consecutive losses in the first 2 games. Both teams have shown flashes of form but will be looking at keeping the effort up for the full 60 minutes. Very hard game to pick the winner with both sides having the talent to prevail. Home ground advantage, plus previous "A" experience may tip the game the way of the Hornets.

MUSTANGS (10th) v REDLANDS (2nd): Sunday March 30 11.30am at Kenny Rd
Last Encounter: None
Head to Head 2001/2: None
Last 2 Games: Mustangs: Souths L 0-72; Redcliffe L 4-42
                      Redlands: Holy Spirit W 56-10; Centenary W 40-12
Mustangs first home game this week, but they could hardly have drawn a tougher game for it. Redlands have started the season in scintillating form putting Centenary the Holy Spirit to the sword and will be looking at this game to further sharpen their combination. Mustangs found the going too hot last week against the speedy Souths side, but never stopped trying, and will be looking to put in a determined showing at home. Hard to see them getting close though.
