First Round: Arana 30 def Logan Bros 28 Second Round: Arana 20 drew Logan Bros 20
Head to Head 2001/2: Arana 3 Logan Bros 1 Drawn 2
Last 3 Rounds: Arana: Souths W 58-16; Slacks Ck W 30-18; Redcliffe W 28-10
                        Logan Bros: Redcliffe W 32-14;  Centenary W 30-16; Redlands L 22-26
Second versus fourth in this "catch-up" round required due to the restructuring of the competition after round 1, and going by the first 2 clashes of the year this should be a close one. In the first round encounter, Logan Bros dashed away to an 18 point lead before Arana came back to win, whilst in the second match Arana led by 16 before Logan Bros stormed back to snatch a draw. Logan Bros would love a win to put more pressure on Arana and Centenary in the battle for 2nd and 3rd, although Arana will be confident after bouncing back to top form against the Magpies on Friday night. Could go either way, and a draw would not surprise!!

REDCLIFFE v CENTENARY: Wednesday August 14 7.15pm at Dolphin Oval
First Rnd: Centenary 22 def Redcliffe 20  Second Rnd: Centenary 23 def Redcliffe 14
Head to Head 2001/2: Centenary 2 Redcliffe 0
Last 3 Rounds: Redcliffe: Logan Bros L 14-32; Easts W 30-10; Arana L 10-28
                        Centenary: Redlands L 6-30; Logan Bros L 16-30; Slacks Ck W 22-16
Centenary have struggled the last 3 weeks with a narrow win over Slacks Ck, followed by losses to Logan Bros and Redlands, and they will be looking to this game to find the form that saw them win seven in a row. They should be helped by school football commitments being finished and need the win to keep a top three finish in their sights. Redcliffe, locked in a battle with the Magpies for a semis spot, blew a lot of chances in their loss to Logan Bros and will be looking to finish better in what should be a bruising encounter based on the two earlier clashes this season.

SLACKS CK v SOUTHS: Wednesday August 14 7.15pm at Usher Park
First Round: Souths 30 def Slacks Ck 12   Second Round: Souths 38 def Slacks Ck 20
Head to Head 2001/2: Souths 2 Slacks Ck 0
Last 3 Rounds:  Souths: Arana L 16-58; Redlands L 12-16; Easts W 34-10
                        Slacks Ck: Easts W 18-16; Arana L 18-30; Centenary L 16-22
Slacks Ck will pit their improved form against the Magpies in this interesting clash. Souths were very disappointing against Arana on Friday night, whilst the Lions will be buoyed by their victory over the Tigers. Souths have plenty to play for with a semi-final position on the line, but Slacks are looking at the next three weeks as their "finals" and haven't given up hope of avoiding the wooden spoon just yet.

EASTS v REDLANDS: Wednesday August 14 7.15pm at Scott Pk
First Round: Redlands 34 def Easts 12  Second Round: Redlands 38 def Easts 6
Head to Head 2001/2: Redlands 2 Easts 0
Last 3 Rounds: Easts: Slacks Ck L 16-18; Redcliffe L 10-30; Souths L 10-34
                        Redlands: Centenary W 30-6; Souths W 16-12; Logan Bros W 26-22
Redlands have won seven in a row and will be looking to become the first to win 8 straight in this competition this year, and it is hard to see the Tigers stopping them, even at home. With Arana breathing down their necks, the Parakeets can't afford a loss if they want to successfully defend the minor premiership they won this year, so they won't be taking things easy.

Enjoy the Ekka evening!
