2002 BJRL U14A Round 18 Preview
SLACKS CK v ARANA: Friday August 2 7.15pm at Usher Pk
First Round: Arana 38 def Slacks Ck 10 Second Round: Arana 68 def Slacks Ck 6
Head to Head 2001/2: Arana 2 Slacks Ck 0
Last 3 Rounds: Arana: Redcliffe W 28-10; Redcliffe L 4-20; Logan Bros D 20-20
                        Slacks Ck: Centenary L 16-22;  Centenary L 10-56; Souths L 20-38
Slacks Ck finally played up to their potential on Friday night to go down narrowly to Centenary and they will be looking to follow up with a similar performance against the other Panthers this weekend.  Arana will be buoyed by finally breaking the Redcliffe hoodoo and will not want to let this one slip. The first round game at Usher park was played in atrocious conditions - let's hope the rain holds off for this one!!!

CENTENARY v LOGAN BROS: Friday August 2 7.15pm at Ipswich Rd
First Rnd: Centenary 34 def Logan Bros 28  Second Rnd: Logan Bros 24 def Centenary 12
Head to Head 2001/2: Centenary 1 Logan Bros 1
Last 3 Rounds: Centenary: Slacks Ck W 22-16; Slacks Ck W 56-10; Redcliffe W 23-14
                        Logan Bros: Redlands L 22-26; Redlands L 16-44; Arana D 20-20
Centenary are riding the crest of a wave at the moment having won seven in a row, although they struggled last week against cellar-dwellars Slacks Ck. Their last loss was in fact to Logan Bros so they will be looking to avenge that. The Panthers know that  they have to keep winning to have a chance at the minor premiership, and no doubt Logan Bros will also be looking to return to winning form to keep their hopes of a top three finish alive. Should be a great game.

REDCLIFFE v EASTS: Friday August 2 7.15pm at Dolphin Oval
First Round: Redcliffe 14 def Easts 12   Second Round: Easts 16 def Redcliffe 14
Head to Head 2001/2: Redcliffe 1 Easts 1
Last 3 Rounds:  Redcliffe: Arana L 10-28; Arana W 20-4; Centenary L 14-23
                        Easts: Souths L 10-34; Souths L 22-30; Redlands L 6-38
Easts make the long trek to Redcliffe for the third time this season, but will do so with some confidence having had two close games down there already including one win.  This time however East are out of semi-final contention and Redcliffe must win to keep in touch with Souths in the race for fifth position. This desperation may tip the scales in Redcliffe's favour.

SOUTHS v REDLANDS: Sunday August 4 10.00am at Brandon Pk
First Round: Redlands 38 def Souths 30  Second Round: Redlands 36 def Souths 18
Head to Head 2001/2: Redlands 5 Souths 0
Last 3 Rounds: Souths: Easts W 34-10; Easts W 30-22; Slacks Ck W 38-20
                        Redlands: Logan Bros W 26-22; Logan Bros W 44-16; Easts W 38-6
Souths have been scoring plenty of points over the past few weeks, but their defence has been letting them down - this was rectified in the game against Easts and they will have to keep their minds on the job against competition leaders Redlands on Sunday. The Magpies have yet to beat the Parakeets in the battle of the birds, but would love to break their "duck" this week - let's hope there's no "fowl" play, or any "cheep" shots - sorry!!! Should be an entertaining match.

Enjoy the start to a hectic August leading up to the semis!!!!
