2002 BJRL U14A Round 13 Preview
ARANA v EASTS: Friday June 21 7.15pm at Dawson Pde
First Round Result: Arana 26 def Easts 10   Head to Head 2001/2: Arana 1 Easts 0
Last 3 Rounds:  Arana: Souths W 28-22; Redlands L 10-26; Slacks Ck W 68-6
                        Easts: Slacks Ck W 24-4; Centenary L 0-44; Redcliffe W 16-14
Easts will have the advantage of the week's rest before this game with Arana having played Souths only 2 nights earlier. The first round clash was closer than the final score of 26-10 to Arana indicated and the Tigers will be keen to complete their first "back-to-back" wins of the year in this one, and keep their faint semi-final hopes alive. The Panthers are tough at home however and will not be taking Easts likely, given the Tiger's recent upset victory over Redcliffe.

REDLANDS v REDCLIFFE: Friday June 21 7.15pm at Pinklands
First Round Result: Redlands 22 d Redcliffe 12  Head to Head 2001/2: Redlands 6 Redcliffe 1
Last 3 Rounds:  Redlands: Centenary L 18-30; Arana W 26-10; Souths W 36-18
                        Redcliffe: Logan Bros L 14-22; Slacks Ck W 44-10; Easts L 14-16
Both teams tasted defeat on Wednesday night, and will be looking to this game to quickly compensate. Redland's representative players may be weary after the tough Stradbroke camp and a battering against Centenary, and this could well be a big chance for Redcliffe to improve their record against the defending premiers. Unfortunately many of the Dolphins are struggling with illness themselves, and the tough game against Logan Bros will not have helped - this should be an interesting game with both teams having heaps to play for - Redlands could slip to 4th with a loss, and the Dolphins need to win to consolidate their place in the top five.

SOUTHS v CENTENARY: Sunday June 23 12.15pm at Brandon Pk
First Round Result: Souths 36 def Centenary 6  Head to Head 2001/2: Souths 1 Centenary 0
Last 3 Rounds: Souths: Arana L 22-28; Logan Bros L 30-46; Redlands L 18-36
                        Centenary: Redlands W 30-18; Easts W 44-0; Logan Bros L 12-24
Another great battle in store here with Souths, desperate to return to the winners list after four straight losses, at home to Centenary, buoyed by their victory against Chairman's Trophy winners Redlands. Souths were desperately unlucky not to at least come away with a point against competition leaders Arana on Wednesday night, and have previously shown what they are capable of when they thrashed Centenary 36-6 in the first round, and they must win to stay in touch with the top 5. This should be a great attacking game of football with players with speed and skill in both sides.

LOGAN BROS v SLACKS CK: Sunday June 23 12.30pm at Civic Park
First Round Result: Logan Bros 40 def Slacks Ck 4  Head to Head 2001/2: L.B. 1 Slacks Ck 0
Last 3 Rounds: Logan Bros: Redcliffe W 22-14; Souths W 46-30; Centenary W 24-12
                      Slacks Ck: Easts L 4-24; Redcliffe L 10-44; Arana L 6-68
The "local derby" at Civic Park will wrap up Round 13, with Logan Bros on a real roll, having won 5 in a row, up against the Slacks Ck side, still struggling to come to grips with the lift in standard this year. It is hard to see the Lions getting close in this one, and the Logan Brothers boys will be keen to improve their "for-and-against", as with the closeness of the competition it appears this may be critical at year's end.

Hope everyone enjoys the last round before a well-earned mid-year break!!
